THIS IS A SPONSORED POST IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NICHE PARENT NETWORK. I AM A KMART SC JOHNSON BLOGGER, THOUGH ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.
Looking back, I have many fond memories of this time of year. The month or so between Thanksgiving and Christmas was very magical. Our home always smelled of some kind of sweet treat. It all started with birthday cakes, because my brother and I celebrate mid to late November birthdays. Then came the aroma of pumpkin pie, which is my favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal! I would've eaten the whole thing. There were other pies too, usually apple and maybe pecan. That was followed up by a huge assortment of Christmas cookies. It seemed we would never run out.
I think my mom got her love of baking from her mom. I remember whenever we would go to my grandma's house there were cookies and cakes and pies galore. Baking is a big part of all of our end of the year holidays. My mom made so many cookies at Christmas time that I still can't believe we ate them all. I'm sure we gave some away to teachers at both school and church, probably placed on a paper plate with plastic wrap over it.
Now, there's a more festive way to present your baked goods to your family and friends. Ziploc has introduced new holiday-style bags and containers to give the gift of cookies to all the special people in your life. We chose the 20 count quart-size bags. They are so pretty - a red bag with white snowflakes printed on them. There's even a label that says "To: and From:" They are the perfect way to pack treats for your child's teacher, your child's friends or even your neighbors.
For our family, having recently moved from a cold-weather climate to South Florida, where the weather doesn't really lend itself to feeling in the Christmas spirit, we thought home fragrances would help. This year, Glade's Winter Collection hits the spot. There are four limited edition fragrances:
- Sparkling Spruce - Gather 'round - it's time! The crisp fragrance of fresh-cut pine is pure holiday magic at any age, evoking the wide-eyed wonder of a thousand twinkling lights.
- Apple Cinnamon Cheer - Brrrr! Wrap those snowy mittens around a mug of steaming cider, and let the fragrance of red apples and spice warm you from head to toe.
- Pure Vanilla Joy - Nothing says holidays like a fresh-baked batch of frosted cookies. Let the uplifting scent of pure, creamy vanilla keep you in the spirit all season long.
- Frosted Berry Kiss - Holiday magic is in the air! With ripe red berries and fresh green garlands, this festive fragrance captures the excitement of a kiss under the mistletoe.
Our toddlers, Monkey and Lil Tank, smelled them all and the hands-down favorite was Frosted Berry Kiss. It really is a festive combination of ripe red berries with fresh green garlands. Every time we spray it (we opted for the spray over the candles), they run through the scent taking a big whiff and saying "ahhhh." Seeing their happy, smiling faces really does put you in the holiday spirit - 80-degree weather and all.
