Tonight is a date night, for sure. It's Tastemaker's "Rock, Roll & Stroll" in Boca Raton. From 6 to 9:30 p.m., you'll listen to live rock music while strolling around Mizner Park on a fabulous progressive food and cocktail tasting featuring many of the center's restaurants.
So what's on the menu? I had the pleasure of receiving a media preview of the event. Just take a look at the tasty dishes below. Keep reading and you'll find out my must eats.
Talk about comfort food at its finest. Shepherd’s Pie with Guinness Mac & Cheese and Irish soda bread, paired with a special “Black Velvet,” combination of Guinness and Cider.
This is for those who like it HOT! I mean spicy hot. If you drink the cocktail, you'll want to have some water to wash it down. Banh Mi Vietnamese Baguette (slow-cooked pulled pork, buttery spicy aioli, cilantro, pickled carrots, daikon and jalapeno) with a Spicy Lover cocktail (Partida Reposado Tequila, cucumber, lime juice, tabasco green sauce, cilantro, and organic agave nectar)
This is what I imagine a night in the Tropics would be like. Refreshing and delicious. Ahi Tuna Poke, sushi grade tuna with soy, citrus, chili green onion and toasted cashews served with a seasonal white sangria with lemongrass and pineapple.
The decor inside will wow you. Roasted Chicken Taco with avocado, radish, cabbage and cilantro paired with Ginger My Apple (Tito’s Handmade Vodka, ginger, apples and citrus)
Exactly how tuna should be served. The wine pairing is spot on, too. Mini Seared Ahi-Tuna complimented with Aspirated sauce with hints of mustard and beer, served with a glass of 2012 Concannon “Conservancy” chardonnay
My absolute favorite. If you're a carnivore like me, you'll want to make this your first stop. Trust me, don't wait until the end because there might not be enough room in your stomach for this melt in your mouth short rib. Norma Jean might be my go-to drink now. Seriously, go here first. Braised Angus Beef Short Rib with toasted pearl barley, wilted collard greens, pickled carrots, natural jus with 18 month aged Italian Prosciutto di San Daniele, goat cheese and poached pear with a Norma Jean (Marilyn Monroe strawberry vodka and housemade strawberry lemonade)
Two words: Crab Claws. Need I say more? Satisfy your surf and turf craving by visiting Tanzy's and Truluck's. Fresh Seasonal Crab Claws served with Poema Cava wine.
Bacon makes everything better, right? Especially for this carnivore. Add bacon and pineapple, you've got a winner here. Pineapple Bacon Guacamole & crumbled queso fresco paired with a Margarita of the Day.
Known for their Italian food, this bruschetta is so fresh, herby (is that a word?) and delicious. Bruschetta Romana with a Bellini (sparkling wine with peach nectar)
Tacos with a twist. Blackened Swordfish Taco with cabbage, cilantro, cumin, crema, pica de gallo, guacamole, mango and papaya OR a Chicken Tinga Taco with chipotle sauce, cabbage, cilantro, feta, and cumin crema. Served with a Miami Brewing Shark Bait Fruit Beer.

A book of tickets costs $30 per person and includes one tasting and a select beverage at each participating restaurant. You may purchase a booklet at the participating restaurants.
VIP ticket booklets, available for purchase at Lord & Taylor in Mizner Park for $49, include a champagne toast from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and Sweet Departures dessert from 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m both at Lord & Taylor. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the American Cancer Society.
