As you know from reading our blog, we like to collaborate on articles sometimes. This one about our Ford F-150 experience is one of them.
NEWSY DAD'S EXPERIENCE:
I don't remember how it started, but I've always been in love with Fords. More specifically, the Mustang and the F-150. The classic muscle car from the '60s and '70s has been one of my favorites since before I could drive. And the rugged best-selling pickup hauls whatever you need while still looking great. I am not a car guy that can talk engine power, road handling and towing capacity, but I do know what I like and if I had my way, I would own one of each. But that will have to remain a dream for a little while longer.
I did have the opportunity to take a 2015 convertible Mustang for a spin back in May when Ford invited me to the test drive event. It was awesome! I love how Ford has modernized the new Mustang while also styling it much like the classic I fell in love with.
Then in July, we did much more than a test drive with my 2nd love. We took a 2015 Ford F-150 for a week-long trip to Disney. I was in heaven!
I loved how high off the ground you are as you sit behind the wheel, but when you open the door a retractable step appears from under the cab to make it easier to climb in or out.
It was also very roomy. We didn't have to worry about the girls in the backseat because there was so much space between them. That came in handy since we were worried about rain as we drove up the interstate. We stowed most of our things in the back seat with the girls. The rear seat actually floats so there is a lot of room underneath.
The ride was much smoother than what I had with my two previous Ford Rangers from the '90s and '00s.
The interior was incredible. There was a touchscreen in the center of the dash for navigation, fuel economy, messaging, entertainment and phone. The driver could also access those features on the steering wheel.
The girls really liked the ambient lighting, the fact that we could change the color to suit our mood for that evening.
Newsy Mom liked that the front two seats were heated, but could also cool you off. She actually drove the truck, too. It helped that the pedals moved to fit her petite frame. And, the massager was a hit. Yes, the seats massage you!
Because we drive a lot, we're concerned about fuel. We were really surprised with the Ecoboost engine because we made it to and from Orlando, plus all the driving around up there, on one tank of gas. I was expecting a pickup, especially a larger-sized one like the F-150, to use a lot of gas. Pleasantly surprised that it didn't.
Since we love videos, check out the one Newsy Mom put together below. She also talked to Ford about the new features in the F-150 and what makes it family-friendly.
NEWSY MOM'S EXPERIENCE:
Great summary of our experience with the 2015 Ford F-150 from Newsy Dad, but he left out the one feature that I ABSOLUTELY LOVED! Want to know what it is?
