Married 8 years. Celebrating 1st anniversary. Why?

We made it. Passed the 7 year itch. You know, that year when most marriages either continue to succeed or decide to call it quits. I'm not gonna lie... we've had our tough times. Tough times mixed in with love, laughter and joy. It's been a journey of ups and downs. Thankfully, more ups than downs.

As we celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary this month, we're also celebrating our one year anniversary of Newsy Parents. When we embarked on this journey last September, we didn't know the wonderful people we would meet and the amazing opportunities in which we'd participate. What started out as a creative way for us to share our passion for storytelling has turned into so much more. We're giving others a voice... sharing their stories. I'm grateful that we - NewsyDad, my beloved husband, - is in this with me. He's not just cheering me on from the sidelines, he's actually playing in the game. Running right by my side as we work together, marching down the field to score that touchdown. Yes, a sports metaphor. After all, I'm from Texas, y'all.

I consider myself very lucky. Not only do I have a healthy, happy family but they - all of us - are a part of this wonderful journey. I know it'll continue to be a journey of ups and downs but there's no one else with whom I'd want to spend my life.

It's our 8th Anniversary, but we are also celebrating our 1st Anniversary.  A year ago, we started our Newsy Parents blog and it has been an interesting experience to say the least.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew that NewsyMom wanted our blog to be special.  Many people don't know this, but we started our first blog years ago to keep family and friends updated on everything going on in our lives since we all lived in different states. But that was about it, sharing our news with others. Now, we're involved in national campaigns with brands like NewsyMom being selected for the Chick-fil-A Moms Panel (she'll share more information soon) and writing reviews including test driving the new 2014 Toyota Highlander which we took to Disney. That was fun! Read about it here. We are also connected with several blogging groups who support us and we support them. And we wouldn't be successful if it wasn't for all of you, our loyal readers.

You may have noticed that I've been writing a few more posts lately.  That is because I feel like NewsyMom has been carrying the load for far too long.  She is still more knowledgeable about how to make our blog successful, but I can at least attempt to write every now and then to help her out.

Now, it's your turn to help us out, if you wouldn't mind.  If you enjoy reading our blog, recommend us to a friend. Like us on Facebook. Subscribe to our YouTube channel. Follow us on Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and Google+. Join our email list here for news updates. There will be a lot more of them. Here's to hoping our next year is even better than our first!
