Disclosure: I was provided a gift card to attend a designer trunk show and share my shopping experience at J.R. Dunn Jewelers. As always, all opinions are my own.
Like most couples, Newsy Dad and I don't have the same taste in jewelry. He doesn't know exactly what I want. And, I select things for him that I like, not necessarily what he likes. So we were excited when J.R. Dunn Jewelers in Lighthouse Point invited us both to their Holiday Trunk Show. I thought, "Yes, it's my turn to show him exactly what I want." He probably thought the same thing.
What's great about J.R. Dunn is that they have jewelry pieces for all ages... stages... and price points in life. We wanted to highlight a few of the ones that caught our eyes.
Every piece of Marco Bicego's jewelry combines old-world tradition with contemporary design. It's made by artisanal craftsmen using techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation. As you can see in the picture above, the time-honored Bulino hand-finished engraving gives the 18kt yellow gold a lustrous texture. A sure sign of the fine quality of Italian jewelry.
Another amazing Italian jeweler is Roberto Coin. What distinguishes his brand from all others is an exclusive signature ruby. You can see it in the top picture of the collage on the palm tree. You'll find a ruby in every piece and according to legend, when a red ruby is worn near the skin it gives long life, protection and happiness to those who wear it.
His pieces range in price from $77,000 for the stunning diamond necklace in the center picture to $29,000 for the gold necklace with what looks like icicles in the bottom left picture. The most affordable in the collection is his tiny treasures. I love initials and monograms. The white gold initial necklace is $580. I could get one for the first letter of Monkey & Lil Tank and layer them for a unique, personalized look. Or mix the white gold with the circle 18k gold initial for $620.
Roberto Coin's jewelry includes bracelets, broaches, earrings, necklaces, pendants and rings in yellow gold, white gold, rose gold, diamonds and precious stones.
Stephen Webster is one unique designer. He draws inspiration from music, fashion, literature and art. He has two really standout collections. The Lady Stardust references David Bowie and his alter-ego Ziggy Stardust, and features the iconic lightning bolt motif. The pieces' geometric v-shaped pattern is accentuated with black and white pave diamonds and bright, colorful sapphires. The Jules Verne collection pays homage to Stephen Webster's favorite book, "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea," from which the aquatic-themed collection takes its cues.
You may have seen his designs on the red carpet. Admirers of his jewelry include Christina Aguilera, Kate Beckinsale, Johnny Depp, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Kate Moss and Charlize Theron.
You'll find pieces perfect for men and women including necklaces, pendants, rings, earrings, bracelets, broaches and cufflinks in white gold, rose gold, yellow gold and sterling silver. The range in metals gives customers a range in price points. Stones include diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, pearls, crystal haze and assorted semi-precious gems. Newsy Dad really liked a Stephen Webster ring which he wrote about here, along with tips on how to find the perfect gift for your significant other.
Since butterflies remind me of my dad, who passed away four days after Monkey was born (read about our last Christmas together here), my favorite in the Stephen Webster collection are the butterfly rings which range from $2500 and up. But he also has some amazing cocktail rings that start at $425. Statement pieces for sure and that's what I'm known for!
We had an amazing time at the Holiday Trunk Show and found pieces that would suit both Newsy Dad and myself along with other members of our family. There's still time to order online here with FREE overnight shipping or in the store if you're local at 4210 N. Federal Highway in Lighthouse Point, Florida and receive it for Christmas. Happy Shopping!
