We are huge football fans. Having grown up in Texas and Nebraska, NewsyDad and I have always been around the sport. Of course, a big part of the fun is tailgating. Whether we were at the stadium or a friend's house or a local sports bar, we just loved enjoying good food and being around other football fans cheering on our teams.
Our favorite foods to eat during games are finger foods, of course, including all kinds of chips and dips, but also meat. Red meat. Burgers and steaks. Yum! While living in Omaha, I was introduced to the well-known Omaha Steaks. Talk about good beef. The family-owned company offers the finest quality USDA-approved, grain fed beef. But they also have other gourmet foods including seafood, pork, poultry, side dishes, appetizers, and desserts. I enjoyed the meals so much, I would gift them to all of my family and friends for the holidays. Now that we no longer live in Omaha, we can still give them these special meals by ordering online here or visiting one of their nationwide stores, including those in Florida below.
- Town Square, Boca Raton
- Fountain Square, Pembroke Pines
- Sunrise Square, Fort Lauderdale
- The Collection at Vanderbilt, Naples
- Palms of Carrollwood, Tampa
- Bell Tower Shops, Fort Myers
While visiting one of the stores last week, we picked up a Gridiron Griller Combo. It includes:
- 4 (5 oz.) Triple-Trimmed Filet Mignons
- 3.5 oz. All-Natural Seasoning
- 4 oz. Napa Cabernet Glaze
We defrosted the steaks in the fridge and grilled them on the stovetop since we can't have a grill where we live. We melted the Napa Cabernet Glaze with the remaining butter I had in the pan from grilling the steaks. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I even poured some of the glaze onto my rice and it make it so tasty. Highly recommend!
You can taste it for yourself during a special event this week in Pompano Beach, Florida. The 5th Annual John Offerdahl's Broward Health Gridiron Grill-Off Food, Wine & Tailgate Festival will be held on Saturday, November 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. It pairs 25 Miami Dolphins legends with critically acclaimed South Florida chefs for an exciting culinary competition for charity. Each team will prepare a signature grilled entree paired with Gallo wines. Omaha Steaks Executive Chef Karl Marsh will be on hand cooking up delicious Omaha Steaks Filet Mignons with Napa Cabernet Butter Sauce. Those who attend can sample all of these mouthwatering dishes and enjoy music, giveaways, interactive games, and NFL player meet and greets.
If you like to grill, you might be interested in competing in the festival's Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey Tailgate Challenge, sponsored by Omaha Steaks. Five tailgate teams will be hand-selected based on the creativity of their grilled steak recipe to compete against each other on Saturday.
