Have you ever experienced love at first sight? I have. You're looking at them.
We met at a place you'd naturally expect to buy shoes - Palm Beach Zoo! I was working as the Media Relations & Development Manager there when I got a phone call from a photographer. Jen Carver of Jen Carver Photography wanted to know if she could use our carousel as the backdrop in the Spring Look Book (self-promotion: I'm mentioned on the credit page) for Houston-based girls' apparel & footwear designer, Joyfolie.
When she described Joyfolie, she used the word "children". I thought, "Yay, maybe I could score some cute shoes for my daughters." But when the photographer, designer and models arrived at the Zoo and started shooting... THERE. THEY. WERE.
Their name - Halle. And I wanted them. I wanted them NOW. I wanted to take them off the model and put them on MY feet. But alas, I'd have to wait until they were made available to the public. The minute Joyfolie released the Spring line, I was ON-LINE and ready with my credit card.
Halle arrived in a twill tie box and included a dainty, jeweled hair pin. The shoes, themselves, are even more beautiful in person. (See them on me here.) My usual size is a 6. Joyfolie recommends ordering 1/2 size smaller in these particular shoes but 6 is the smallest. No problem - I just placed a terry cloth insert from Aldo inside them. Comfortable AND fashionable! How often can you say that about a pair of shoes?
If you'd like these raffia booties, they're available at a discount for a short time only. Joyfolie is having an extra 30% off sale on their women's shoes. Use the code: W30SALE. Sale ends Friday at midnight.
